How to Enable Transfers for TiVo Desktop and Multi-Room Viewing

The free version of TiVo Desktop was discontinued on June 5, 2013. Only TiVo Desktop Plus is available for new downloads. Existing copies of the free version of TiVo Desktop will still function normally.

You can enable transfers online, using Manage My Account. To do this:

  1. Log into My Account. For information on how to log into Manage My Account, go to How Do I Log into Manage My Account?
  2. Click Change Device Preferences.
  3. Click on the box under Video sharing and Enable video downloads on DVRS to allow Multi-Room Viewing. A check mark in the box denotes that you can transfer content over your home network between DVRs (Multi-Room Viewing), or to a computer (TiVoToGo). You can turn this setting off or on at any time without charge.
  4. Click Save Preferences.

NOTE: Changes to this setting take up to 24 hours to take effect. Additionally, all DVRs in your household using Multi-Room Viewing will need to connect to the TiVo Service before this change will appear.
