What is the AOL On app?

The AOL On app boasts a wide selection of rich, high-definition video content drawn from The AOL On library of more than 380,000 short-form videos. The AOL On app provides access to original content from providers like Moviefone, Engadget and HuffPost Entertainment.

The app also features HD videos from the AOL On Network's premium content partners like Reuters, AP, BBC, Newsy, Entertainment Tonight, Sugar, E!, Splash News, CNET, and Gourmet TV. The AOL On Network adds new content on a regular basis.

For more information, visit the AOL On webpage.

How do I access and view the content available through the AOL On app?

  1. Go to the AOL On launch point:
  2.
Roamio Series DVRs and Premiere Series DVRs with HD menus

From TiVo Central > Find TV, Movies, & Videos > AOL On

NOTE: The AOL On app is only available on Roamio Series DVRs and Premiere Series DVRs running software version 20.2.2 or later.

AOL On doesn't appear in my list of apps:

Premiere Series DVRs only: AOL On requires that you use the high-definition TiVo menu (HDUI). The launch point will not display in the classic standard definition menu (SDUI).

If you aren't sure which menu type you are using, go to:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Displays > Choose TiVo Menus > TiVo with HD Menus (Widescreen)

Roamio Series DVRs or Premieres with HDUI:

    1. Make sure your TiVo device is connected to the Internet by going to:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Network > View network diagnostics > Test Internet connection

If your connection fails, see General Network Troubleshooting Tips.

    2. If your connection is successful but you still can't see the launch point, make sure the app is selected in your video provider list:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Channels > My Video Providers

    3. If these steps fail to resolve the issue, contact TiVo Customer Support.

AOL On will not launch on my standard-definition TV

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

    • Make sure your TiVo software version is up-to-date.
    • Set your video output format to 720p or higher:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Video > Video Output Format

    • IMPORTANT: This step only applies to out-of-date software versions. Software versions 20.4.1 or later don't require a video output format of 720p or above to launch AOL On.

The composite video output on TiVo devices always outputs 480i, regardless of the video output chosen through the menu. Your standard-definition TV won't display video in HD, but changing the output format on the DVR will make the app usable.

Switching your video output format might cause your video to look stretched. To fix this, set the aspect correction mode to Full by going to:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Video > Aspect Correction Mode

  3. Use the arrow buttons on your TiVo remote to navigate through the available categories and content.
  4. Highlight the content you wish to view.

  5. NOTE: The title, time, and a brief description displays at the bottom of the screen when you highlight content.

  6. To play the content, press Select.

  7. NOTE: You can use the Rewind and Fast Forward buttons on your TiVo remote to navigate through the content.

  8. To exit the content you are currently playing, press the Left Arrow button on your TiVo remote.

  9. NOTE: Each group is a playlist; when your current content ends, the next item in the playlist begins.

How do I disable AOL On?

You can disable the AOL On application through the Video Provider List:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Channels > Video Provider List

Select AOL On to uncheck (disable) or check (enable) the DVR.
