OVERVIEW

Web Video Hotlist is an application powered by Samba (formerly Flingo) that provides on-demand streaming of video content to your Roamio Series or Premiere Series DVR. Web Video Hotlist offers access to video content channels such as Crunchyroll, College Humor, TMZ, Break, Vimeo, and many others.

Web Video Hotlist is available to retail customers in the United States with Roamio Series or Premiere Series DVRs running software 20.2.2.1 or greater.

Where can I find the Web Video Hotlist application?

HD Menus: From TiVo Central > Find TV, Movies, & Videos > Web Video Hotlist

SD Menus: Not available in SDUI

Web Video Hotlist doesn't appear in my list of apps:

Premiere Series DVRs only: Web Video Hotlist requires that you use the high-definition TiVo menu (HDUI). The launch points will not display in the classic standard definition menu (SDUI).

If you aren't sure which menu type you are using, go to:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Displays > Choose TiVo Menus > TiVo with HD Menus (Widescreen)

Roamio Series DVRs or Premieres with HDUI:

  1. Make sure your TiVo device is connected to the Internet by going to:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Network > View network diagnostics > Test Internet connection

If your connection fails, see General Network Troubleshooting Tips.

  2. If your connection is successful but you still can't see the launch point, make sure the app is selected in your video provider list:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Channels > My Video Providers

  3. If these steps fail to resolve the issue, contact TiVo Customer Support.

Web Video Hotlist will not launch on my standard-definition TV

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

  • Make sure your TiVo software version is up-to-date.
  • Set your video output format to 720p or higher:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Video > Video Output Format

  • IMPORTANT: This step only applies to out-of-date software versions. Software versions 20.4.1 or later don't require a video output format of 720p or above to launch the Web Video Hotlist.

The composite video output on TiVo devices always outputs 480i, regardless of the video output chosen through the menu. Your standard-definition TV won't display video in HD, but changing the output format on the DVR will make the app usable.

Switching your video output format might cause your video to look stretched. To fix this, set the aspect correction mode to Full by going to:

From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Settings > Video > Aspect Correction Mode

What is the Fling Queue and can I access my Fling Queue from the Web Video Hotlist application on TiVo devices?

When using a web browser, the Fling Queue allows you to place video files into a queue to share with all Flingo-enabled devices on your network.

The Web Video Hotlist application on TiVo devices will allow you to view videos in your Fling Queue, remove videos in your Fling Queue, as well as clear your entire Fling Queue.

To learn more about Flingo and to create your own Fling Queue, go to Flingo.org

To watch videos from your Fling Queue on your TiVo device:

  1. From the Fling Queue menu, navigate to the video you wish to view.
  2. Press Play to begin playing the video.

To remove videos from your Fling Queue on your TiVo device:

  2. Select the video to remove from the queue by pressing the right arrow button and scrolling through the list of recently played videos.
  3. From the popup menu on the right, select Remove Fling.

To clear your entire Fling Queue on your TiVo device:

How do I navigate videos in the Web Video Hotlist application?

The TiVo remote buttons provide the following functionality:

  • Play begins or resumes playing the video
  • Fast-forward or Right Arrow advances the video
  • Rewind or Left Arrow rewinds the video
  • Clear exits the Web Video Hotlist application
  • Select or Pause (while in a video) will provide a menu on the left side of the screen that allows you to resume playing the video, add bookmarks, go back to the menu, navigate to the next video and access the progress bar.

My video will not play; I receive the message "Content is currently not available."

Some content that requires you to sign in to the web site may not play even though the Web Video Hotlist application displays it in the queue. You will receive a message stating "Content is currently not available."

NOTE: YouTube content is currently not available through the Web Video Hotlist application.

I want to hide the Web Video Hotlist application.

To turn off the Web Video Hotlist, which will remove it from My Shows and the Find TV, Movies & Videos menus, you must uncheck it from the My Video Providers list (which is available when you are using the HDUI):

  1. From TiVo Central, select Settings & Messages->Settings->Channels->My Video Providers.
  2. Press the SELECT button on your remote to uncheck Web Video Launchpad.

When this is completed, this application will no longer be listed under Find TV, Movies & Videos and My Shows. To show the Web Video Hotlist again, highlight it and press SELECT to add the checkmark.
