My video quality gets worse when a recording starts on my DVR

Your TiVo DVR always records at Best video quality when you are watching live TV. When the DVR begins a scheduled recording, it changes the video quality to the level you have set for the recording (even if you are watching the program live while it is being recorded). If you have set the video quality for the recording to anything less than the best quality, you may see a change in video quality when the DVR starts recording a scheduled program.
To change the recording quality for a program on the To Do List:
TiVo with HD menus: Go to TiVo Central > Manage recordings & downloads > To do list > [Select s program] > Record this episode > Options > Recording Quality.
TiVo with SD menus: Go to TiVo Central > Find Programs > To Do List > [Select a program] > Change Recording Options > Recording Quality.
To change your default recording quality, perform the following steps:
1. Navigate to the Recording Quality screen.
From TiVo Central go to Messages & Settings > Recording > Recording Quality.
2. Highlight the desired Video Recording Quality, and press SELECT.
NOTE: This setting will only affect future Season Pass recordings that you set up. If you want to adjust current Season Pass recordings, refer to How do I change Recording options?
