Connect your TiVo box to a wired network (Recommended)

All wired routers and most wireless routers have Ethernet ports to connect the router to other devices on the network. A wired connection may be faster than a wireless connection and is the recommended connection type for Premiere boxes.

To connect using a wired connection, simply attach an Ethernet cable between your router and the TiVo box.

New TiVo customers: After the box powers up, it will automatically begin Guided Setup. During Guided Setup you will be prompted to enter settings that will allow the box to connect to your network.

Existing TiVo customers: If you were using a wireless or phone connection, go to How to configure network settings on your TiVo box.

TiVo Series2 ST (Single-Tuner) boxes require a USB wired adapter. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to your router and the other end to the wired adapter. Then, connect the USB end of the wired adapter to the USB port on the back of the TiVo box. To view a list of adapters compatible with your TiVo box, see Which network adapters work with my TiVo box?

NOTE: TiVo Series1 boxes cannot connect via broadband.

Connect your TiVo box to a MoCA network using an ECB

TiVo boxes that have an Ethernet port can connect to your existing MoCA network using an ECB (Ethernet to Coax Bridge) adapter. The TiVo Premiere XL4 / Elite is MoCA enabled and does not require the use of an ECB.

To setup all other boxes with an ECB connection do the following:

1. Setup your ECB according to the manufacturer’s direction.

2. Connect the coax cable to the coax end of the ECB.

3. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet end.

4. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your Series2, Series3, or Series4 box.

5. Scroll up to Connect your TiVo box to a wired network to continue setup.
